Rohit Sharma named vice-captain for Test team

Rohit Sharma welcomed the new year with a positive news as he has been appointed the vice-captain of the Indian Test team by the BCCI. Due to injury, Rohit missed the T20I and ODI series along with two Test matches of the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia.

Rohit joined the team after the second Test match in Melbourne on completing the mandatory quarantine period. Although, there had been speculation whether Rohit would get a chance to play in the third Test in Sydney.

Ajinkya Rahane has been leading the team in the absence of skipper Virat Kohli who returned to India after the first Test in Adelaide. Cheteshwar Pujara had been playing the role of vice-captain, however, now Rohit Sharma has been made the vice-captain.
