Suryakumar Yadav has made a name in domestic cricket and also proven his worth in the Indian Premier League over the last few years. Despite of his brilliant performance, Team India selectors have failed to give him a place in the Team India squad.
During the IPL 2020 tournament, Team India squad was announced for the tour of Australia which left Suryakumar disappointed as he did not make the squad. During the time of dismay, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma spoke to him and later revealed how the batsman felt on being overlooked by the BCCI.
International call-up is every players dream but the wait for Suryakumar has extended despite of a powerful performance in domestic cricket and IPL.
Rohit Sharma while speaking to PTI, revealed his conversation with Yadav and said, “We were sitting in our team room and I could feel he was dejected. But I didn’t go and speak to him. It was he who came up and said, ‘Don’t worry I will get over it and win the matches for MI’,” Rohit said.
Being able to understanding his sentiments, Rohit knew Suryakumar was headed in the right direction.
“And when he said that I also realised he is heading in the right direction not only in terms of IPL but in his overall career. There are a lot of India games and his time will come. If you ask me, my philosophy is mind over matter and that’s what works for me,” he added.
