Rohit was not included in the limited overs squad against Australia and selectors included him in the revised Test squad after he turned up to play for Mumbai Indians in the last three IPL matches including the final despite of the injury.

Rohit Sharma spoke differently from the BCCI’s plea and insisted on being fine and fit but the board felt Rohit needs enough time to recover from the hamstring injury he sustained during the IPL that had triggered a massive debate of his fitness.

Rohit’s fitness has become a priority of the BCCI as regular captain Virat Kohli has made himself unavailable after the first Test match against Australia. He will return to India to be with his wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child.

On Wednesday, senior pacer Ishant Sharma, who is also undergoing rehad training sessions at the NCA, bowled full tilt under the supervision of chief selector Sunil Joshi and NCA head Rahul Dravid, will fly with Rohit Sharma to join the Indian team in Australia after completing the mandatory quarantine period.

Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians on defeating Delhi Capitals in the final became the fifth time IPL champions.
