The BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangaluru refused to conduct the fitness test of pacer Jasprit Bumrah. In order to return to the field it is mandatory for any player to undergo a fitness test post recovery of the injury.

Rahul Dravid led NCA had ‘politely’ declined Bumrah’s request for conducting a fitness test, giving a valid reason suggesting that the pacer was consulting his own private specialists during the course of his recovery after being diagnosed with back stress in September.

It had been Bumrah’s personal decision not to side with NCA for his rehabilitation program and had conveyed to the team management that he was not keen on going to the NCA.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has stated, “I will find out what exactly is the reason. NCA has to be first and final point of every International cricketer,”

“It’s just been a couple of months since I have taken over. I will speak to Rahul (Dravid). I met him a few times. We will understand the problem and solve it,”

Adding further he said, “From outside, and who has not seen this very closely, Bumrah has been injured for a while. I was not part of system while he was sent. What happened? But if you ask me, NCA is a place for Indian cricketers. Everything has to go through the NCA so we will find out.”
