After India’s unexpected defeat in the Semi-Finals of the ICC World Cup 2019, Dhoni seemed to have taken the exit a bit too seriously. Post World Cup, Dhoni announced his sabbatical that hasn’t ended five months down the line and it is still uncertain when the wicket-keeper batsman will return to cricket.

Millions of Mahi fans are eagerly waiting for his comeback. In the meanwhile, head coach of Team India Ravi Shastri opened up on Dhoni’s future plans during an interview. Shastri said, “If at all MS will take a call on his future, it will only be after the IPL. You can’t stop speculation as he is such a big player. He is in the best shape possible fitness wise and has been training hard for the last one month.”

“However, the number of competitive games he will play before the IPL will be decided in due course.” he added.

The chairman of National selection committee MSK Prasad had already pronounced that the panel has ‘moved on’ and Dhoni is well aware of that as young talents are being given opportunity to groom.

In Dhoni’s absence wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been playing in his place, however, during this course of time he has failed multiple times to make the most of the opportunity.

The former captain has played 90 Tests, 350 One-Day Internationals and 98 T20 Internationals for India. He is the most talented wicket-keeper India has had behind the stumps as he has dismissed over 500 wickets in shorter format while taking approximately 300 Test wickets.
