The Indian team is all set for their first tour to West Indies after the World Cup. However, reports have surfaced that during the mega tournament the Indian team had witnessed a difference of opinion among the team members on the premiership of captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
After India’s untimely exit from the mega tournament, there have been many speculations that have surfaced over the difference of opinion among the team members. According to a report by the Gulf News, that during the mega tournament, the Indian team was divided in two camps where some supported Virat Kohli and others favoured Rohit Sharma.
There were times when Rohit’s side didn’t agree with Captain’s decision which led to dispute among the players. After the devastating defeat in the Semi-Finals, Rohit’s group spoke of removing Virat Kohli as a captain who has been unsuccessful in winning ICC tournaments. Rohit had wanted to include Mohammad Shami in the Semi-Final as he had shown tremendous skills as he took 14 wickets in 4 matches.
At first Rohit Sharma was considered to lead the team during the upcoming West Indies tour, but Virat Kohli’s decision to go ahead on the tour makes him continue as as captain. It’s being stated that if under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian team won the ODI and T20 series in West Indies, there may be claims to make Rohit the permanent captain.
