According to reports, 31-year-old, India skippper Virat Kohli is the only cricketer to mark his name in the world’s top 10 list of highest earning sports person through sponsored Instagram posts during the lockdown.

India has been under a lockdown since 25 March due to COVID-19 and is slowly moving towards easing the confinement. Along with all the verticals, the sports world too suffered a shutdown, however, during this period where people suffered huge loses, Virat Kohli was able to bag the sixth spot on the list of highest-earning athletes during lockdown.

‘Attain’ collected the figures from 12 March to 14 May, when the actual lockdown took place in other to weaken the spread of coronavirus. According to the list, Kohli grossed 379,294 pounds (Rs. 3.6 crores) through his sponsored posts, 126,431 pounds per post.

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list with an approximate earning of 1.8 million pounds. Argentina and FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi and PSG’s Neymar bagged the second and third position on the list with earnings of 1.2 million and 1.1 million.

Shaquille O’Neal, former American basketball player is in the fourth place with 583,628 pounds and former England football captain David Beckham got the fifth spot with 405,359 pounds.
