
In an interview with India Today, Virat Kohli disclosed his faith and respect for former skipper MS Dhoni. He said it’s unfortunate to see people going after Dhoni. Kohli said of there’s anyone who understands Cricket more, it’s Dhoni. He understands his game from ball 1 to 300.
Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni share alot of mutual understanding and respect. When Dhoni had stepped down as Team India skipper and Virat Kohli took over, he expressed that Dhoni would always be a captain to him. On the field, Kohli lets Dhoni guide the two spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Kohli added that he is very fortunate to have a great mind like Dhoni behind the stump. He said, “I am fortunate to have a mind like that from behind the stumps. At the end of the day, I want to be involved in strategy with the team management with Mahi bhai and Rohit (Sharma).”
When he had started his journey with the Indian Cricket team under Dhoni’s captaincy. It was Dhoni’s faith in him that allowed him to bat at No. 3. He added, “Although I grabbed my chances, for me to get that kind of backing, it was very crucial for me. Also, he gave me an opportunity to bat at No.3 because not many youngsters get to play at No.3.”
Dhoni has the eye to see potential player and that’s what he saw in Virat Kohli.
