On Tuesday, India’s Test wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha underwent a surgery in Mumbai for a finger injury that he sustained during India-Bangladesh’s Day/Night match played in Kolkata last week.
The 35-year-old suffered a fracture on his right-hand finger and immediately required medical attention. The cricketer is expected to make full recovery for the two-match Test series that is to be held in New Zealand next year in February.
According to a press release, “The BCCI Medical Team consulted a hand and wrist specialist and it was suggested that Saha undergoes a surgical fixation of the fracture,”
Furthermore, “Subsequently, he underwent a successful surgery in Mumbai on Tuesday and will soon commence his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, Bangaluru.”
In Saha’s absence, it is expected that Rishabh Pant will be the ideal choice for wicket-keeper during the upcoming tour.
During India’s last Day/Night Test match and Bangladesh, Saha completed his 100 dismissals in Test format. In his 37 match Test career, he become the fifth Indian wicket-keeper to have 100 dismissals.
