After opener KLRahul and Ajinkya Rahane depart, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant counter-attacked the English bowlers. The first ball of the second day was faced by KL Rahul while Robinson was bowling the over. Rahul played the same confident shot but he was caught by Dom Sibley. He scored 129 runs in 250 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six.
On the first day, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma added 126 runs for the first wicket.
Rishabh Pant was batting on 28 not out and Ravindra Jadeja was in the middle at 9 as India was placed at 313/5 after 104.4 overs. Earlier, Rahul added two century-plus stands, with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, during his stay at the crease. While Rohit missed out on his maiden overseas Test century as he was sent out by veteran pacer James Anderson for 83.
The Indian team scored 276 for 3 on the first day of the second test against England. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 127 runs in 248 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six and entered his name in many record lists.
