Virat Kohli may face a ban for two ODIs

Indian team captain Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings in the fifth match of the T20 series against England. However, Virat Kohli engaged in a heated verbal exchange with England batsman Jos Buttler after the latter was dismissed by pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar while he was returning to the pavilion. The argument started when Buttler mouthed a few words to Kohli who at the time was celebrating the dismissal, Kohli who felt offended confronted the English cricketer. Jos Buttler played an excellent partnership with Dawid Malan before he was dismissed and scored 52 runs.

Buttler’s fall came at a crucial point, just when England was picking up with the run tally at 130 in 12.5 overs while chasing a 225 target.

After this, Virat Kohli was seen interacting with umpires and England batsman Johnny Bairstow for some time. Let me tell you that during the second Test, Virat Kohli was seen arguing with the on-field umpire, after which he was in danger of facing suspension in one of the tests. However, he survived at the time. But if Jos Buttler takes the issue further, then things may get difficult for the Indian skipper which may lead to two ODI ban.

Virat Kohli already has two demerit points to his account. According to the ICC’s demerit point system, if a player has four or more demerit points in 24 months, he may have to face a ban from a Test or two ODIs or two T20 matches. If Virat Kohli gets two or more demerit points then he can face a ban in the ODI series against England.
